Winchester Conservatives – Morale is high

There was standing room only at the Annual General meeting of the Winchester Conservative Association. Morale was high as the Chairman welcomed so many new members. The Cameron effect following his visit to Winchester in November 2005 has energised the membership particularly younger voters. There is huge optimism amongst members that the Conservatives will take control of the City Council following the May local elections.

Chairman, Anthony Harding commented:

‘I have been involved with Winchester Conservatives for many years and we have been through our ups and downs. There is definitely a new focus and energy towards our party both locally and nationally.’

Members welcomed Conservative MEP Richard Ashworth, the Budget Spokesman in Brussels, who spoke about the rejection of the Constitution and how the Conservative MEP’s were working hard in the best interests of our country.
