GREAT PROSPECTS FOR PROSPECT ROAD

Winchester city councillor George Hollingbery today said that recently completed improvements to an Alresford industrial estate would now make the area more commercially successful.

The Conservative Alresford member met with the county and city councils and the chamber of commerce last year to discuss the future of the Prospect Road estate in the town which had fallen into disrepair.

Since then the county council has spent tens of thousands of pounds on new footpaths and better access to recycling facilities on the site.

As an added bonus council workers have improved the top end of the site by putting in new parking spaces and resurfacing the whole area.

"The area, which was a bit of an eyesore, has been transformed and it can now get on with the business of being an even more successful commercial centre," said Mr Hollingbery. "

It is important that people and visitors can feel comfortable when they visit industrial estates because that will encourage more business and customers.

"Thanks must be given to the county council who listened to the views of everyone and then did more than they said they would to make the estate better."
